At long last we get to relax and enjoy our new home.
We're done with the inside and almost finished
with the preliminary landscaping.

The cabin in Brevard - our temporary housing until our new home is finished.

Internet access was a bit sketchy at first... note the cell phone hanging in the tree and the high tech frying pan reflector. A bit later we adapted a mobile cell phone antenna and some connectivity issues were resolved. The headset is for using Skype as an alternative to using up cell phone minutes.

The cabin is in Transylvania County very near the town of Brevard. Transylvania County is know as the land of waterfalls. We're also near the French Broad River... great for canoeing and fly fishing!
The falls are Connestee Falls - about 15 minutes from our cabin.

We are just a quick drive to many miles of wonderful hiking trails.

A short hike and we find ourselves at the covered bridge near High Falls in the Dupont State Forest.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch and an afternoon hike to High Falls.

A squadron of Canadian geese wings in daily for a visit. This is the view from our front porch.

Brevard is home to the famous White Squirrels. No, they're not albino, they are truly white!

Meanwhile back at the ranch... er, the property, we check on the contractor's progress.
The old culvert has to be dug up and re-routed since it would run right under the house.

Bonnie and her car both get licensed. They're both officially North Carolinians now.
Alan assembles the mail box and now the property is official too!
