The driveway is in, the building site is prepared, and we're all set for the foundation... fall is in the air... |

A Mount Pisgah hillside in full fall color and two views from our property. |

Triple Falls - our favorite so far. Can you spot the two people in the picture? |
Just when all seems wonderful in the world we find this mess beneath the trenches for the footings! The house has to be moved 10 feet south because of the cavities left by uncovered buried brush piles. |
Under Construction... The blocks are ready and the footings are poured. This corner is 12 feet deep. The footings for the foundation took over 40 yards of concrete. |

A cheery Thanksgiving in our two room cabin. Note: Digital fires are not very warm! |
We decided to take a break and visit our neighbors the Vanderbilts. Their home, Biltmore, is a mere 2.5 million square feet. Although it is open to the public, it is still privately owned! |

The foundation walls and the pillars are finished and the sill plates are installed... we're ready for a house! |
What is this woman grinning about? She just saw her new home coming up the road! |
A few tight squeezes and a mail box or two and the first half of the house is close to home. Good old brute force and a little he-man persuasion helps the house bend around the corner! |
A few strong backs, some well placed ramps, and a half dozen extra supervisors... the first half finally reaches the building site. |
The crane is readied, the guy wires are pulled through, and we are ready to fly! |
Up, up and away, it's a beautiful, amazing sight! The house is gently set on the foundation. |
The workers, with the aid of the crane, raise the roof! We now have half a home! |
Now half #2 has arrived and it too has a bit of trouble bending around the corner. The neighbors that live on the road above us enjoy a two hour drive-in "block" party! |
The crane with outriggers set and 45,000 pounds of counter weight easily lifts each half of the house! Just as it gets dark the second half is ready to lift. |
The back half is now ready to be joined to the front of the house. And there it goes! |
Houston, we have a home! It's zero dark-thirty and too late for photos, so the rest will have to wait. |
