The Floor Plan
This was the preliminary floor plan we designed.
Later we changed the laundry and master bath configuration and added hardwood to the dinning room.

Just a few facts about this home. It is a Modular Home not a mobile home. Yes, it is built in a factory, but that is where the similarity ends. This home has stick built, frame constructed walls - 2x4 interior and 2x6 exterior - just like a site built home. It is insulated in the walls, floors and ceiling, and has dual pane thermal insulating windows throughout. This house was built in less than a week in the factory. If we had the same home built on site it would have taken at least 3 months. We designed our own floor plan and chose all of our interior appointments. There are hardwood floors in every room but the kitchen and baths.

The masons are finishing the foundation walls The excavators will backfill and groom the ground next.

The back of the house - this side faces our view. The garage will go on this unfinished end of the house - the door will be inside the garage, the window will not.

The only good thing to come out of the ground was this nice big boulder. We're keeping it as a decorative rock/souvenir. Our landscape grading is almost done. There is an unplanned basement under the house, so we had a 48 inch wide access door installed... wide enough for a garden tractor!
The masons are prepping the garage floor and footings. We will be pouring concrete soon.

Well so much for new concrete... it's Dec. 18 and we woke up to this - our first snow fall.
Looks like a White Christmas this year!

Dec. 21 We're still snowed in... the photo on top is the way out. What road? We are the only "guests" at the Rainbow Lake Lodge, so we have this winter wonderland all to ourselves.

We had planned for our furniture to arrive on Dec. 26 or 27. Today we learned the road to our sub-division is a barely plowed one lane track. Our street is in about the same condition and our driveway is buried under 18 inches of heavy snow. We called to cancel delivery and were told the moving van has already left. Our neighbor summed it up best, "The roads aren't exactly moving van friendly right now!" The house and driveway will not be anywhere ready for our furniture so it looks like it will go into storage again... good grief! Maybe we'll be in the house by Memorial Day!

Dec. 24 We drive up to our subdivision and find these innocent puddles... other tracks crossed them... so...
